Peacock Print Details

Inspired by my love of Indian Fauna, in designing my peacock print I wanted to work with a print design that personified one of my favorite flowers, the Quisqualis. Quisqualis is like an Indian honeysuckle, a vine with pinkish-red flower clusters. It is both stunning and has an amazing scent that you need to smell to truly appreciate. I worked with a print designer who created a version that related to the quintessential block printing designs and was able to combine the color and beauty in this amazing fabric.

This custom made fabric is part linen, part cotton, part silk, part flax, and part rayon. The combination of these allows a fabric that has the sheen and drapability of silk, but the breathability of cotton, and the natural look of flax.

This is one of the parts of my job that I love the most. I have always been such a textile enthusiast, and it gives me such deep-rooted pleasure developing and inventing base fabrics for my prints and silhouettes. I hope you will love wearing them as much as I have loved creating them.
