Madras Check

Most of us would have either heard or know what Madras Check is - named after the southern city of India (now known as Chennai) where it traditionally comes from. Although this style of fabric became popular in the West in the 1960's, it dates back to 1600's in India following the arrival of Dutch and then British traders.

.I source my fabric from a family producer in Chennai, its quality evident in the hand spun finished product with matching pattern on both sides of the fabric. As soft to the touch as it is visually appealing, I then work with my team of artisans to add the usual Kopal finishes and embellishments, and don't forget that amazing hand stitched shibori detail on the front!!
.

As always in multiple styles for you to love!
